External Opportunities

Two DAR National Scholarships are advertised and available outside of the DAR Academic Works system:

  • DAR Lena Ferguson Nursing Scholarship: The one-time $5,000 scholarship award is available to two students who have been accepted or are enrolled in the University of the District of Columbia’s Nursing Program (either the Associate of Applied Science nursing program or the registered nurse to Bachelor of Science nursing program).   • Anne Trevarthen Memorial American Indian Scholarship: The scholarship is a one-time scholarship available to a graduating high school senior will be attending the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Applicants must demonstrate a personal connection American Indian culture and traditions. In addition, preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate knowledge of and/or involvement with one of Virginia’s state recognized tribes. The amount of the scholarship is based on the annual return of the endowment, and may vary year to year.
