DAR AMERICAN REVOLUTION LEGACY GRANT PROGRAM 2027

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE GRANT?
· The Daughters of the American Revolution is offering preschool through post-secondary teachers and administrators “American Revolution Legacy Grants” that support educational initiatives or student programs, enhance student academic performance, and reward creative approaches to support higher levels of student learning.
· The Legacy Grant must align with the theme: “Shining Light on the Classroom: Honoring Our Legacy of the American Revolution”.

WHEN WILL THE 2027 GRANT CYCLE BEGIN?
· Application Opens: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2026
· Due Date: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2026 AT 11:59 PM PST

HOW DO I SUBMIT AN APPLICATION?
· Applications must be submitted electronically via the DAR Scholarship Committee Online Application Submission Portal (https://dar.academicworks.com/opportunities).
· Complete the online application no later than November 1, 2026, including electronic endorsement of the principal/supervisor and Chapter Regent or the Community Classroom Committee Chair. If you are not connected to a local DAR chapter, visit dar.org and find a chapter close to you.
· You are strongly encouraged to begin this process by completing the Application Aid in conjunction (CCC-1000) with your local DAR Chapter and Community Classroom Committee Chair.
· Edits to the electronic application may be made until grant closes on November 1, 2026.

WHAT ARE THE GRANT GUIDELINES?
· The programs/initiatives in the 2027 application must be executed during the 2026-2027 school year.
· Grants approved up to $5000 per application.
· Grants may fund instructional and classroom materials, parent involvement programs, or any activity or material which connects to the legacy of the American Revolution and supports higher levels of student academic achievement.
· The awards must be used for the purposes intended.
· Winning grants will support innovative, educator-developed projects that meaningfully engage students with the theme “Shining Light on the Classroom: Honoring Our Legacy of the American Revolution.” Proposals should reflect authentic planning and original thought. All grant requests should focus on a project, not a purchase. For example, DAR would consider funding for programs like a school musical, a grade level field trip to a museum, or a science fair centered on how Revolutionary-era inventions continue to improve modern societies; or an initiative like a school-wide American history club, a campus History-Bee, or a district-wide traveling American Revolution exhibit. DAR will not fund salaries/stipends, furniture or classroom sets of Chromebooks/iPads.
· When creating your program/project budget, be specific, research carefully, and be realistic. Small grants are just as likely to be awarded as large grants.
· The grants will be awarded during the 2027 grant program (for use during the 2026-2027 school year. The final number and dollar amount of awards will depend upon the quality of applications received and on funds available from DAR. Monies would be awarded no later than March 15, 2027.
· Chapters are allowed one endorsement per grant cycle.
· Endorsements must be secured at the chapter level (from chair or regent) and at the school level from principal/supervisor. Notice of receipt of application will be sent to the two parties providing endorsements.
· Grant recipients may only receive one grant during the Storage Administration, which includes the following academic years: 2025-2026, 2026-2027, 2027-2028

AM I ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
· Employees of a public school district, private school, community college district, or accredited university, college, vocational, or trade school who are involved in the instruction of preschool through post-secondary students; continuing education, or related support services are eligible to apply. Applications will be reviewed by committee; and the DAR National Chair of the Community Classroom Committee. Recommendations will be made to the Executive Committee for final approval. Applicants will be notified by email of decisions by the Community Classroom Committee.
· Employees of the DAR School and DAR Approved Schools are not eligible to apply for this program.

WHAT SELECTION CRITERIA IS USED TO AWARD GRANT FUNDS?
· The degree to which the application supports the 2027 DAR American Revolution Legacy Grants theme of “Shining Light on the Classroom: Honoring Our Legacy of the American Revolution.”
· The degree to which the proposal represents a creative or innovative approach to the accomplishment of grant program objectives.
· The degree to which the proposal is clear and logical, including (a) specificity of objectives; (b) clarity of description of instructional procedures, methods, or treatments; and © correspondence among evaluative procedures, objectives, and treatments.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS IF THE GRANT IS AWARDED?
· The final report should be submitted by June 1, 2027, to the DAR Community Classroom Committee.
· Grant recipients must agree to share photos and project summaries for use in future DAR programs and promotional materials.
